"Today is the day"

not.
in the old days, before everything was done electronically,
the "record date" was the the day the split shares had to be mailed to
shareholders who held the stock in their own name.
today most shares are held in the street name. no need for mailings.

the date "payable" or the "ex-date" is the date that matters.
in this case that's Jan. 29th. two weeks from today.
that's now the last day you can buy shares and still participate in
the split.
I sit corrected. I guess I need to get up to speed with the good new days. Thanks for the reminder.
