Brazil shares snap back, surge up as real floats
SAO PAULO, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Brazilian shares snapped back from an early nosedive Friday and sailed upwards after the Central Bank allowed the currency to float freely, traders said.

Sao Paulo's Bovespa share index was sent racing upwards and was trading 12.01 percent higher at 5,664 points at 1128 local/1328 GMT after opening nearly 6 percent lower on fears of a new devaluation.

The currency was effectively down another 12 percent Friday after the Central Bank move and more than 18 percent down against the dollar since a devaluation Wednesday.
