They gave Bob Livingston an ovation for being truthful. You're feeling pretty confident since you have Flynt leading the Democratic charge, aren't you? Is there anything to the rumor that your 2000 ticket might be Gore-Flynt?

<<It is so sad that we have to lose his great talents, don't you think?>>

I am at a loss to think what his great talents are beyond getting elected. Maybe you are speaking tongue in cheek?

I give him zero credit for the curent economy beyond having the sense to keep Greenspan and putting Rubin in place.

On the social front, we seem ever more divided, which is part of the politicians game. What has happened to resolve the gay issue in the military? Where are racial relations on the mend? What kind of immigration policy would you call our present mess? Has education really been a focus? If so, with what results? Health care ... no comment!

In the international arena I can not think of how we might have done worse. Where once we had policy, now we have nothing. US policy is 100% a matter of reacting. There have been countless promises and threats with no follow through. All that promised aid to Africa? Where is it?

So what are we to appreciate? I think the WSJ had it right when they started an article something along the lines .... "Clinton was well on his way to a totally undistinguished place in the history books until he got impeached".

In sum, I'd be happy to dispose of this man's talents. Of course, if we do, we get Al Gore, but we can hope he'd contract Dutch Elm Disease and disappear too.
