Product Discovery and Development

(2) Product Discovery and Development. The Company owns an extract
library of approximately 2,764 Traditional Chinese Medicines and other plant
materials which it has screened using its proprietary screening technology.
Through this screening process, the Company has identified ten (10) potential
therapeutic compounds that the Company intends to target as drug candidates.

In July 1998, the Company entered into a collaborative research agreement with
the Southern Research Institute ("SRI") in Birmingham, Alabama. Under the
Agreement, the scientists from the two companies will work to identify and
develop compounds, such as Andrographalide, from the Company's TCM extract
library, which have the potential to become anti-cancer pharmaceuticals. Several
of the most promising extracts and Andrographalide are the subjects of animal
trials currently underway at SRI. Management expects to obtain the results of
the animal tests in the Spring of 1999. If the results are positive, SRI and the
Company intend to proceed with the next phase of clinical trials. The goal of
the SRI/Paracelsian collaboration is to partner with a major pharmaceutical
partner to develop any potential drug candidates in the shortest possible time
period.

Jonathan,

The variation in TNF-Alpha Response is truly amazing. Sample C was 18.5 times more powerful than sample D. Anyone taking sample D (or sample B and maybe sample A) was really ripped off. Too bad our company couldn't name the specific products that were tested, but I suppose they had to avoid doing so for fear of a lawsuit from companies D and B.

You know, it's really disgusting how lawyers have managed to surpress freedom of speach in this country. Those who can't compete in the marketplace of ideas, those who fear the truth, need only threaten legal action to shut people up. This is a country where only rich people can freely speak there mind. Look at what happened when the beef industry bozos sued Oprah Winfrey for allegedly libeling their industry when she said she wouldn't eat hamburgers anymore. Fortunately, she's rich so she didn't have to knuckle under their intimidation tactics. But for every Oprah there are probably thousands of people who have important information to inject into the market place of ideas but refuse to do so--either because they've been threatened with a libel suit or they fear the object of their criticism will file one. We should rename our libel law as the "Cowards Protection Act". No one who has behaved honorobly should fear engaging in battle in the free marketplace of ideas. No one who has a decent product to sell should have to resort to using slick $100+ per hour lawyers to defend their product through intimidation tactics, rather than engaging their critics in a debate of the facts. By doing so--by even threatening to do so-- they move the game from a level playing field to a game in which the cards are stacked in favor of those wealthy enough to afford a legal suppression team.

Unfortunately, our legal system protects company D by allowing them to foist its inferior goods on the unsuspecting public. Fortunately, the BioFIT program will help in that regard. But BioFIT will only help provide truth in advertizing in one small arena. It will not foster the freedom of speach that our legal system has surpressed. America would be ten times better off if we only had 1/10 as many lawyers.
