Short sellers sometimes perform a useful function for longs.

Even if you don't agree with the short case, please be careful not to ignore what might be useful information. I lost a lot of money in many stocks by ignoring the case put forth by shorts -- partly because I was long and partly because I didn't like the attitude. In the last year or so I have learned to value input from shorts. It has increased my success ratio considerably.

If you are long, please don't ignore the following post:

What does $17 IPO mean to DBCC?

DBCC owns 4.5 million CBSMarket Watch (Nasdaq: MKTW).

Let's assume DBCC worths $7 without MarketWatch.
(how to get $7? Average price of DBCC before Dec'98).

Let's assume MarketWatch will trade $50. So DBCC ownership on
on MarketWatch is $50 * 4.5M = $225M. DBCC has 32.2M shares
outstanding. A share of DBCC will own $225M/32.2M = $7 on
MKTW. A share of DBCC worth $7 + $7 = $14.

Following is a table which shows relations ship between
DBCC and MKTW

MKTW price Calculated DBCC price
-----------------------------------------
$17 $9.4
$30 $11.2
$50 $14
$100 $21
$150 $28
$200 $35
$1000 $147 >>

If anyone feels the table is not an accurate depiction of the relationship between MKTW and DBCC, please post your calculations. David Faber will probably be using this chart sometime today and it could be bad news for the long contingent. All I'm really saying is: Keep an open mind and utilize the info on this board effectively.
