Not sure how this fits with BKS financially but news anyway.

Friday January 15, 1:18 pm Eastern Time
Barnes/Noble textbook affiliate to sell online
PALO ALTO, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, an affiliate of Barnes & Noble Inc (NYSE:BKS - news), plans to start selling textbooks online within weeks, a company official said Friday.

''We have an extensive online strategy that we are getting ready to launch in the next couple of weeks,'' Jade Roth, vice president of Barnes & Noble College Bookstores, told Reuters.

''It is a comprehensive strategy that would enable us to sell textbooks online to anyone who wants to purchase them,'' Roth said

Barnes & Noble College Bookstores is a privately-held company that shares the name and managers with the large bookstore chain.

The college textbook company operates hundreds of college bookstores around the country.

Roth declined to say whether the forthcoming online operations would be run within barnesandnoble.com, or separately.

But she said the company, which has relationships with virtually all textbook sellers, is able to offer ''a significant depth and breadth of selections...from a best-selling economics book to an obscure German literature book.''

One day does not a big move make...from the Axxel VTAR (c) Newsletter 1-17-99:

Barnes & Noble [BKS-39 9/16] it was not $49 as indicated in the last letter...but you knew that…We suggested on the 14th: "…we got the price concession under $40 that we wanted; now wade in and buy." We mean it...get this stock bought. Buy it. Buy a few call options. Don't call me about what ones…I hate talking about options. Just do something.
