The IEEE formed a working group called IEEE.N-west
to develop an air-interface standard for LMDS. Note
that as usual, there seems to be a lot of politicking
involving the inclusion of mesh-networks in addition to
P-MP, as well as the range of BWs covered by the
standards (Americans want to include not only the
28GHz band, but also the 38Ghz band):

<..Surprised BR is peddling old data...>

As I posted, this was Q3 data, and being the most up to date available, I didn't see it as BR "peddling old data".

<..The December numbers have to be much better, right?..>

Haven't heard anything definitive. Rumors that Oct and Nov were great, while December wasn't nearly as strong as previous two. But for a holiday month, this was likely not unexpected.

<..Speaking of which, WCII's quarterly "line installations and orders" preannounce press release is now past due...>

Some thought has been given to the value of pre-releasing "lines installed" numbers ahead of the regular report. No one doubts that WCII is capable of reselling ILEC copper. Since the important metric going forward (for ALL CLECs) will be on-net (or at least, on-switch), I believe WCII may just wait to report all their numbers at the same time. Plus, they are technically in a quiet period for their secondary. There was some question whether they should even be at SSB. I believe the roadshow starts this week... another reason perhaps why the SSB didn't have a lot of "new" info. I'm sure they are saving some stuff for after the secondary - not unusual for a company to give their new investors some treats as they get onboard. Note, that unlike an IPO's 30 day post offering quiet, a secondary offering only has a T+3 quiet period.
