If the stock hadn't tanked, wouldn't the holders of AMD's 400K solicitation have traded the notes to stock? Could AMD have decided to just meet expectations, as they existed in December, to avoid a run up in share value and conversion of the notes to stock? Okay, it's a stretch . . . but stranger things have happened.

All,

It seems to me that instead of focusing on Intel, their technology, and the affect of their pricing on AMD, it might be worth taking a hard look at how Cyrix will be affecting AMD by early 2000. To me, this is AMD's biggest threat (hopefully, AMD will be able to insulate themselves from this threat with a big success in the server market with the K7).

Pravin.
In for a penny, in for a pound. I just picked up another 1000 shares at $21.875. K6-3 and 450 Mhz K6-2 announcements this quarter should push the stock back up to $30.

Pravin.

Scumby - Re: "Does a 1GHz x86 CPU early next year sound like an excuse to you? "

YES - It's an EXCUSE for not having 400 MHz and 450 MHz x86 CPUs today!

You must be off your rocker - how much money is AMD making on the K7 promises for next year?
