Great point Charlie! This is one of the tools that savvy analysts use. I'm talking here of credit analysts that work for Moody's, not the "analysts" that work for brokerage houses. Ignore "provision for income taxes", and pay attention to income taxes paid. The reason is that the "provision for income taxes" is based on earnings, which is really a fictional number.
