I will explain why the market did what it did today. -g- Here is why - too many people jumped on the short-wagon too quickly, including yours truly, who loaded-up on certain puts and sold a long position - GNSSF (which charged ahead today!)! CBOE Market Stats for January 14, 1999 Put/Call Ratio: .70 VIX OPENING VALUE: 31.91 VIX HIGH VALUE : 36.79 VIX LOW VALUE : 31.33 VIX CLOSING VALUE: 34.74 EQUITY OPTION TOTAL EQUITY CALL VOLUME : 530,967 TOTAL EQUITY PUT VOLUME : 284,284 TOTAL VOLUME : 815,251 ------ Another reason is that Bob Brinker got cocky again about his 'right' call that market is headed for a 10% correction. I think he posts with a screen name Don Lane on the Brinker thread.
