Rick: While many today are debating the issues of cloning and abortion and the creation of life and mutation of life, I resolved those issues in my mind more than 2 decades ago. The question I am exploring is: when we create the first thinking machines will we treat them as slaves or respect them when they, too, claim the intrinsic rights of a human? I predict this will be upon us in less than a quarter of a century. FT

Women have been reading their guilty husbands' minds for hundreds of thousands of years. What do you suppose first set men a-digging for brilliantly colored but totally useless gems, and trapping mink which could not be eaten (contaminated by civet and feces that they rub on temselves to make them disgusting to other predators. What do you suppose unerringly allows a teacher to call on those who have no homework. Other exsmples are many. There's nothing new here.
