Internet Accelerators

You might want to look at this freeware

davecentral.com

Not only does it allow you to tweak the MTU, etc. but it also allows you to use the 'host file' feature in windows. With Net Lightning you use it to store the ip address for the sites you access frequently on your hard disk. Microsoft explorer then uses the host file to look up the ip address from the host file, rather than have to obtain it over the net. (Netscape doesn't seem to use the host file feature).

Worth thinking about anyway.

John

Edward, be careful with an accelerator, because if you are looking for recent posts on an instantaneous message system like SI or real-time chat, you might not see new messages right away. You have to adjust the program's settings. The trade-off was really small for me. I had a lot of difficulty a few months ago with an accelerator, and finally deleted it from my computer. Perhaps there are some new ones that are better.

Regards, Wisam

Go to either Sedar on-line or Carlson on line and I think an accelerator screen pops up there.I do not have the links and have to go out or I would post them for you. It might help some....
