TV tuner - I do not do it. My take is that you are taking up some very expensive real estate on you computer screen. It is much cheaper an more useful to just buy a tv.

TraderJ: TVtuner card
I just assembled a new computer and purchased a video board with this feature. It is an ATI "All-in-Wonder-Pro" board. However I haven't used the TV feature yet. I got this board for it's direct video input feature to send video up on the internet. #1 son got married on December 23rd and he has more friends on-line than in the "real world". We put the entire evening up on the internet so they could all watch the wedding, reception and all. Was a lot of fun.
I'll try the TV tuner and let you know how it works. One neat thing it can do is monitor the closed captioning and start recording when a string of is triggered like maybe...NAVR&IPO ?? Does anybody know if the closed captioning is there all the time or do you have to subscribe?

I have a 13 tv/vcr cobo on my desk next to the
PC.On all day and keep a tape in there ready to go.
The cost is about $300. Why, today alone was well worth it
when they mentioned IMON on CNBC and besides I love Squawk
BOX in the morning and they have the dow and nas on the
screen all day...

TV/Tuner card:

I think having CNBC on during the trading day is imperative (unless you've got briefing.com or some other streaming news feed). I've got a little TV mounted on the wall right over my computer screen. I turn on CNBC at 7:oo AM to check out the futures and the international market activity, then keep it on all day. I don't have a stock ticker
with Waterhouse, so I only have to glance at the TV to get an idea of where the market's at.

I'm a tech moron so I don't know about this tuner card stuff. The TV cost me $100 and it leaves the screen free for trading.
