Don't you know that Cable can carry voice too? Better yet, cable can carry digital voice embedded with digital video showing your loved one smiling at you on the screen while you hearing them giggle
on the phone. ADSL is not suitable for this application. AT&T is going to combine the digital TV programs with the Internet Data service together. That can only be done with Cable, not ADSL from
PacBell or GTE, they are merely phone companies.

Even if you select ADSL service, in a few years you will be forced to
switch to cable since all of people around are enjoying true multimedia
experience with Cable. Would you stick with your data+analog voice only service? I guess you want to see the video too.

Plus, ADSL is known to be slower than Cable.
