CONSIDER THIS ABOUT NET STOCKS.... From my main man
Jason at CNN: "I did some quick checking and if Yahoo,
Amazon, and AOL do as well in 1999 as they did in 1998,
they will each be worth more than Microsoft by the end
of this year! They'll be the three biggest stocks in
the world! People who are buying these things expecting
to get rich are bonkers!" Thanks, J. You rock the free
world!

MARKETWATCH.COM.... Red meat Internet IPO!!!! Alex.
Brown priced 'em officially at $17. Alex. raised this
sucker twice. Was to be priced at $10 to $12. Then $14
to $16! Then $17! Sucker opened at $90!! Closed at
$97.50!!!! What is it? (Who cares.com!!!) No, it's an
online news Web site. Hey, Cramu!!!! You better do the
Street.com now, babe!!!!! Why wait?!?!

READERS DIGEST & TIME WARNER?... Yup, I heard it too!
TWX is looking to buy it. Equal partners with the
Foundation or some such. I know, I know. Strange
bedfellows.

BRAZIL.... So you're rallying. So what. I want you to
go away. Stay away. Don't bother us. We only do 1.7% of
our trade with you! Meanwhile, we're making some money
up here, okay? Just shut up and buy a little PMC Sierra
like the rest of us, okay? Geez!!!

Loose Change

Earnings next week. Big ones: MSFT, IBM, Chase, JPM,
and many others.... Breadth and volume again strong.
Duh!!!!!... Biogen was happenin'!... Telescan (our
fortuneinvestor.com partner) was up strongly after NBC
and GE Cap bought 10% of the stock.... MSFT up $8, to
just under $150.... Networking stocks, on the move!:
Lucent up $4, to $110. Cisco up $5, to $101. Novell up
$1, to $20. Ascend, up $4, to $86.... Rambus! I call
'em Rambutt. They were down $8, to $89, after stinking
up the joint last night. Actually not that bad, but
company says the road ahead looks rocky. Blames
seasonal problems in Nintendo. Give me a break!!!...
RealNetworks was a mover after announcing a joint
venture with @home.... Merrill Lynch upgraded airlines
(of all things). Especially bullish on Delta. Alaska
Air too.... Symantec was strong on some good numbers. I
will never understand that company.... Platinum Tech
was weak after posting some lame-asped numbers. Is that
the company run by the long-haired Polish guy hooked up
with Boston Chicken? Or is that the other Platinum?
Inquiring minds want to know!... Speaking of food,
Friendly's was off today (you know them? It's a New
England thing. Not bad! I didn't even know they was
public!). Posted a MUCH bigger loss than expected....
Sports: I dig that ESPN commercial with Roger Clemens
at the copying machine. Xeroxing the letter "K." He
says, "I'm going to be here a while." Rog is a bad
man.... Hey, I like the Jets, but Jets fans are pretty
low life. You know why they cut off drinking in the
third quarter at Giant Stadium, don't you? Nope, not
the Giant fans. It was the Jets! BIG guys! Drunk!
Loud!... Want to buy an awesome CD? Check out the
King's Singers "New Day." The title track, "You Are the
New Day," will bring you closer to God. I really mean
it!!! Man.
