Well, the Wilson/U of Pennsylvania patent
number 5,856,152 was filed 10/28/94...
I also noted that the work was supported
by NIH grant number P30 DK 47757..."The
United States government has rights in
this invention".

How the Genovo/Ariad venture fits into all
this is not perfectly clear yet. A lot of
interests in bed together, especially when
you throw Hoechst in there as well.

Four other patents are cited...
5166320 Nov 92
5240846 Aug 93
5252479 Oct 93
5622856 Apr 97--this is an Avigen patent
titled High efficiency helper system for AAV
vector replication...the other's I have not
bothered to download and save yet.

I haven't looked at too many patents before
now...but I did think it was pretty nifty
that sequence data is at the end of the
document...bizzare to see four pages of
GAATTCGCTAGCATCATCAATAAATATACCT....

Your point about bogging down reading the
minutiae is well taken, I'm just skimming to
get a sense of things. Thanks for the input.
