TOO BAD MORE PEOPLE DIDN'T LISTEN

In short, the presentation of Arkansas Republican Asa Hutchinson to the Senate yesterday was absolutely devastaing.

It would be absolutely impossible for any rational, intelligent, clear thinking person to not fully and completely understand that Bill Clinton did -- absolutely -- engage in a conscious effort to obstruct justice.

You could almost read the thoughts of the Democratic Senators yesterday. "Gawd, I'm glad more people aren't listening to this. If more voters knew how obvious it is that Clinton obstructed justice I would never be able to vote not guilty."

THE MOST FEARED WITNESS

Paul Gigot has it exactly right in this morning's Wall Street Journal. The witness that the Democrats, and the White House, fear the most --- is Bill Clinton. If no witnesses are called at all then there will be no questions as to why Clinton didn't testify. For every witness that parades through the Senate chambers there will be more people asking why Clinton doesn't motorcade his lying ass over there and testify.

The problem? Clinton would have to lie again! He would have to sit there and say that Monica Lewinsky was having sex with him while he wasn't having sex with her, and that he was making all of those "I was never alone with her, right?" statements to Betty Currie just to refresh his own memory.

HOW TO GET CLINTON TO TESTIFY

Grant him use immunity. Ken Starr couldn't use anything he said in his impeachment testimony as evidence against him. Then tell the American people that the Senate wants to give Clinton a chance to clear his name before the Senate and the American people. Then let him run and hide.

CLINTON SUPPORT ERODING?

The NBC/Wall Street Journal poll says that more than one out of three Americans, about 36 percent, believe that the Senate should convict Bill Clinton and toss his butt out of office. That's up eight percent since December.

Forty percent want to see witnesses called. Fifty percent think the Senate trial will be "just."

Another pollster, John Zogby, says that the percentage for removal from office is up ten percent, the percentage against removal is down eleven percent, all in just one month.

Now … here's what's going to happen.

These pollsters are saying that the tone of the Senate trial --- the quiet dignity of the proceedings --- is causing many people to take a second look at the situation. As they look more closely, they see that there is clear cause for removal.

The solution for the Democrats? Easy! Destroy the decorum of the Senate trial. In order to stop this trend against the President the Democrats are going to have to start yelling hysterically about partisanship, mean spiritedness, hypocrisy, and the evil Republicans trying to undo two presidential elections. They will have to turn it into a circus again so that people will be dissuaded from watching ---- and learning.

IT'S ONLY CONSERVATIVES WHO ENGAGE IN HATE SPEECH.

Listen to the words of Mass. Democratic Barney Frank as he discusses his Judiciary Committee colleague Bob Barr: "I would find it hard to work with Bob Barr, but for many years now my feeling has been that if Bob Barr caught on fire and I was holding a bucket of water, it would be a great act of discipline to pour it on him. I would do it, but I'd hate myself in the morning." There you go. Frank would hate himself for saving a fellow human being with whom he disagrees politically.

<< Livingston was applauded because he had the good sense and decency to come clean, admit what he did ... >>

Spin, spin, spin, spin, spin. You can call it anything you like. You can twist the truth as much as you want.

There is only one true fact: The Republicans gave a standing ovation to Livingston after he was backed into a corner and it was found out that he cheated on his wife for years and had many affairs.

Why didn't he come clean after the first affair? How about after the second affair? Did he not have the good sense and decency to come clean then? How about the next affair? How about the last affair?

What you are doing is finding a way to excuse adultery because he's your man.

At least the Democrats were men enough to condemn Clinton for cheating on his wife. It's too bad that the Republicans aren't men enough to condemn those among them that are cheaters. Hmmmmm!? Perhaps there are too many of them! <g>

Oh! I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you what I think about the Republican Party's new set of Family Values.
