AMD Q4 EPS Results:

David Langston was kind enough to calculate the results before I got a
chance to work on it. Here it is, based on his calculation

_____________________________________________________________________

I calculated the absolute value of the percentage deviations of the
estimates from the actual results by the formula:
ABS(Estimate-Actual)/Actual*100,
then summed all categories and sorted on the sum for all the
participants. I used $788.8 $0.15 5.5 88.7 as the actual results.
To be fair, I checked through the post-earnings coverage that Albert
has posted on the private thread to try to fill in the missing info
for the analysts. If no data was available for a category I
arbitrarily assigned it a 1000% penalty. Hey, if someone doesn't make
estimates, there should be no chance that they might win.

Tenchusatsu is the winner. He is our SI ACE on AMD earnings.

I want to thank you everyone for participating. Even though the AMD
stocks didn't turn out what we expected I still think AMD has a good
quarter and a solid future. At 5.5M/quarter AMD is now capable of
supplying all the top tier OEMs. This makes AMD a credible competitor
to Intel. When the K6-3 and K7 come out the competitive landscape
will favor AMD.

Re: your <AMD is at a great price right now with the semi-equipment makers at all time high and DOW and NASDAQ at all time high. With the 5.5M volume capacity and more per quarter going into the 1999 with upcoming K7 AMD stock price is a bargain at $22 3/8. >

When Wall Street gets inefficient - just go in and pick up the money! I agree with you completely - and am back into AMD.

Maxie - Re: " <<"I think AMD management is sorely testing its credibility at this point," says Piper Jaffray's Ashok Kumar.>>
Listen to this asshole speaks. He claimed that AMD couldn't deliver the 350MHz and missed the 400MHz for Christmas. He is a hypocrite."

Don't knock Kumar - his estimate was a H*LLUVA lot closer to AMD's earnings than yours (21 cents vs 55 cents) - and Kumar doesn't have the advantage of working the Night Shift at MegaFlop 25 like you do !
