Excerpts of SGI news.

techweb.com

SGI has been on a heavy-duty VAR recruitment effort for the past few months.
By the end of the year, it will increase its number of channel partners by
approximately one-third to 2,000 worldwide, including 600 in the United States.
Roughly half of the VARs will sell NT systems, with just 20 to 25 percent
selling Unix workstations exclusively by the end of 1999, Arnesen says.

One major addition to SGI's channel is $2.5 billion Entex Information Services
Inc., located in Rye Brook, N.Y. "[The company] is strong in the financial
markets, chemicals and pharmaceuticals-where we have limited distribution,"
Arnesen says........
The company continues to focus on the high end, with
systems scaling into thousands of processors. But it wants to expand that
business beyond what it calls the technical computing market to include the
Internet, media and strategic business analysis markets, which means getting
VARs more involved.....

Walter,

<<I remember (years ago) when Gary Marshall recovered a fumble and ran it the wrong way for a TD (for the other team)! >>

I think you are referring to ol'#70, Jim Marshall, in the game against the 49ers (in Kezar Stadium in '64?). It's hard to imagine somebody his size playing defensive end (at least today). Carl Eller was the other end, of course. This was before Alan Page played tackle. Anybody remember what year Page joined the Vikings?

Unlike football, coming in second place would still be OK in the FC switch league. Do we all get rings if Ancor becomes the #1 provider?

Greg

Walter,

I think Gary Marshall is Penny Marshall's (Laverene and Shirley, movie director) brother and a tv/film director himself. The Viking player 's name was Jim or Jeff or something like that.

tm <----- old enough to remember seeing the wrong way td, and also old enough to not remember the guy's name.
