David, but floating the real means it is most likely to decrease in value relative to the dollar which will have a negative effect on US exports to Brazil. That is not bullish for US stocks. Commodity imports from Brazil will seem cheaper in the US, also not bullish for US stocks.

The Brazil market went up as measured in real simply because the real is worth less. This is all negative news for world markets, will just take some time for investors to figure it out.
