Van: Sounds like you could use "Trading for a Living" by A. Elder, and there is a corresponding Trading for a Living work book. I'm pretty new to daytrading too--do you recommend the brokerage you've used so far? It seems all people talk about is their dissatifaction with them. I guess they're all swamped and struggling with the new technologies. Which leads to my second question: How has your experience been with the screens and accoutrements? Also, do you read thestreet.com? There is a columnist there, Gary Smith, who writes "Technician Takes", and last year he documented his forays into daytrading. At first he loaded up on gizmos only to wind up paring down to his PC and a battery powered backup to avoid the increasingly frequent power outages (he lives in northeast). He uses Investor's Business Daily to get picks for his position trades (that he holds for a few day) and various methods for his day trades. I'm reading Jeff Cooper, trying to learn to spot patterns...

hey vanj

¨thanks for the info...do you really need so many tools to daytrade successfully? Ive been doing it while workig and been making pretty good returns.¨¨

i dont have a specific strategy perse i just have a list of buys each day based on stocks that i believe will move on a given day

i do telecoms consulting so im familaiar with whats going on in that industry.¨¨

i know a bit about technical analysis but i dont believe in getting bogged down in details.¨¨

if you can give me any other tips i would greatly appreciate it...
oh, what broker do you use, im using schwab at the moment but they are far too expensive...i thought about etrade or ameritrade, what do you think?
