You can use BuddyList WITHOUT subscribing to AOL!
I use it but have Erols! See www.aol.com for details

See? Now you can cancel your AOL.

1 problem with my theory. Self-fulfilling prophesy.
If EVERYONE thnks its good, and everyone buys it, then it doesn't
matter if they sell used kleenex or tulips online, the stock will go
up regardless, so good enough, right?

"Even though I'm soon getting TCI @Home service, I'll still keep my AOL with a TCP/IP connection, which is like 9 or 10 bucks a month.

Based on a Bear Stearns report, you will be able to subscribe to AOL for $9.95 under its "bring your own access" program over the broadband connection via @home. No need to maintain TCP/IP connection.
