What is the effect on CBS per share of variance in price of MARKETwatch Infinity and other subsidiaries in terms of net value per share. Is there a formula available for each. My guess is that it is increase in total shares owned by CBS divided by issued and outstanding shares of CBS. Might be useful to have figures for this so we can track real increase in value of CBS rather than speculate as has been done.

Thanks.

Dave:

Some of the e.brokers like Schwab offer access to certain IPO's for their heavy traders (Schwab 500 members) but you have to call in your order (they're trying to get approval for online IPO orders). On popular IPO's (like the recent INSP), it's difficult to get through on the phone and you must call a specific 800 number. I check out all the IPO offerings but don't buy that often -- it's tricky business and if you "flip" the shares, they'll take that into account -- negatively -- on future IPO deals.

Good luck!

Dave,
Sorry for the late response on this subject, but I haven't been keeping up with SI recently.

Etrade did indeed offer marketwatch.com shares in the IPO. The period during which you could indicate interest was very short, and if you weren't checking in regularly you could miss it. Etrade has offered several IPOs to their customers over the last few months.
