gdichaz, Re Just wish Ericsson management would work out a practical relationship to sell CDMA too. Nokia has, why can't Ericsson?
I am Ill prepared to answer that one; except that It's apparent
that the animosity between the two companies will keep that from
happening until the flavor of the next generation CDMA system
has been resolved.

It appears that Qualcomm surprised a lot of people, by creating
a viable cdma product in the RF world.
( But I do wish people would also realize that the US Government, not
Qualcomm, actually invented the original technology)

However, the TDMA folks appear also to be turning a few heads,
by squeazing more out of this less efficient (antique ?) technology.

One practical example of this :
My #1 Son proudly displayed his Nokia 9000i Communicator, on the
day after Thanksgiving Day. (We were a day late)

While at that gathering, he connected to his home office file
server, via the internet, to check his mail, some stock quotes; and possibly to impress his old man.

I asked him why he had not purchased a CDMA unit (you know, better
voice quality, etc.)
His response was, that this type of service just was not available
in a CDMA unit; "It has not yet lived up to It's promises".

Only a fool would NOT believe that CDMA is the future,
but even Nokia is not really behind the current generation
of that technology.
I would not expect them to do much more than manufacture a line
of CDMA phones.

Better days should be ahead, and hopefully both parties will
realize that being hard headed will not hasten those days.

BTW I'm not averse to an investment in Qcom, but am somewhat
fearful about entering, before their earnings announcement.

Best,
Mardy.
