Mike, Hey, your point isn't too technical even for me.

You may be right. Infrastructure has been and probably will continue to be where the big boys have major advantages - deep pockets, long term relationships, et al. Right.

But just as it might be argued that the Q should leave the production of handsets to others, I am skeptical of the wisdom of eliminating any major link in the CDMA chain.

Yes, not giving major emphasis to either handsets or infrasture may make sense but cutting and running does not IMO. There are major advantages to the Q to participate at the leading edge of phone production and infrastructure if for nothing more than to be involved in the entire CDMA chain to spot problems and opportunities that may weaken or strengthen the CDMA chain at any point.

The Q has in fact suffered up to now IMO by not being in the delivery of services itself directly. The CDMA service providers have been the weak link in the CDMA delivery chain IMO. But that is history.

In any event, I, for one, trust the Q's management to make the right decision on both infrastructure and handset production. Might as well, they are the ones who will decide. :-)

QUALCOMM most likley would not sell its infrastructure division but partner with a industry heavy weight instead.QUALCOMM no doubt (guessing)is in the midist of some big changes in that division including staff changes. They might cut staff to thin down and then take on a partner. My guess is that they would do as they have done in the past and partner (i.e.WIRELESS KNOWLEDGE).No doubt the expense of further development in 3G systems incorporation into the base stations ect. reguires more then what they can do at this stage without more drain on the bottom line. Its intriguing that along with LU,MOT,NT that ERICY is also salivating and drooling about the mouth. This could be an opportunity for QUALCOMM to use its leverage in it's IPR position and ERICY's weakness (absolutley no CDMA)to let ERICY into the fold without them having to choke on to much crow (past the salt).QUALCOMM stands in a great position in any advent with the modification that they are wrestling with and we as shareholders will win as they cut loss and apply even more revenue to the bottom line.Ericsson would gain CDMA and harmonization would be written in with all parties gaining especially QUALCOMM which would be the undisputed champion.
