Dan,

I certainly agree with your characterization of the study, ie., suggests a theory rather than a result. It might have been more appropriate to title the article on the 14th in a less dramatic manner. There wasn't any data to show "elivated cardiovascular risk". The author might point out the use of the word "may" but I think it would have been more scientific/professional to stick to the pharmacalogical variations that were observed.

I had not noticed the availability of the paper from July of last year, that is rather curious! Perhaps the dust was brushed off and resurrected because of the recent approval.

As a separate issue, in some sense I was ticked off at Monsanto last night and thought that I'd let it sit for 24 hours to "cool down". Well I'm still ticked off. There have been two conferences now that individual investors have been excluded from. The second one after an admonition from the SEC regarding the first exclusion. Now MTC releases the information on the heart drugs, moments after market close. Still in time for institutional investors and larger Instinet accounts to trade. Leaving the small individual investor quite helpless. It might well be the case that making the announcement during the trading session would not have helped the little guy (because they can't react quickly enough), but there seems to be a pattern of behavior that is directed against the small investor. There, I've said it.

Best Regards,
Jim
