Here are some good reasons why I think IMON might be the real deal. I think the SellON stream application will be the real money maker in the future. The Web Zinger program will get it some revenues but the other avenues of revenue might be a whole lot bigger. The TDDP technolgy looks very good and with Digital TV exploding this could be a patent that is worth a Sh$@#tload of money. [1] The CEO of ImaginOn, David Schwartz, co-holds a patent ("Transformational Database Processing and Playback" or TDPP) which contains 34 proprietary claims on an innovative way to organize internet search results so they can be presented to a user in a real-time, interactive (user-directed) video/audio stream. [2] The patent has been allowed (11/20/98), but not yet granted, by the PTO (I believe it is still in public comment mode). [3] The patent forms the basis of IMON's three current core products: WorldCities 2000, WebZinger and sellONstream. [4] WebZinger is not a search engine; instead, it uses existing search engines to process user queries. The value of the product is that it automates the labor intensive process of creating by-hand from conventional search results a report with multimedia content. Without it you would have to cut and paste pieces yourself from all the web site hits. It sells for $44.95 and while the current version is slow, a new version is due out soon. Other people have reported products that do similar things. [5] WorldCities 2000 is currently a CDROM/DVD-based product which takes you through a multimedia-intensive (video/audio) interactive trip (which the user directs) through a major city. There are hyperlinks within the presentation which if selected would take you to a web site for more information on whatever you clicked. Although CDROM/DVD-based today, I am reliably informed that the product can work just as well from a server if sufficient bandwidth exists from the server to the client. I believe IMON has completed this product for San Francisco, with New York, London and Paris comming. Obviously targeted for the travel community. It has been reported that AMEX is interested. [6] sellONstream -- Video e-commerce CDROM-based product. High quality video streams from the CDROM onto the screen based on user-directed branching within the presentation. Output from a vendor's web site can be alongside on the desktop to facilitate electronic purchases of items seen in the video (which I assume can be selected for purchase by clicking on them). It has been reported that a women's apparel maker is interested. [7] IMON has signed a letter on intent to purchase INOW, an ISP with operations in the San Francisco Bay area. Although small, I gather the purpose of this acquisition is to showcase IMON's products in a server-based environment to interest other larger ISPs. I have heard WebZinger will be hosted, I assume the other two core products can be.
