Frank ..

Haven't we seen this before with Sony .. they make great products but sometimes they simply rush their products to the street. I'm in radio & Sony came out with something called an L Cassette machine. It was supposed to allow news people who are out on the road the ability to record onto L cassette tapes with the same quality they'd get in the studio with 7 inch reel to reel tape .. go out to a story & come back with the final product & then pop your L casstee into the production studio & not have to redub from one source to another & loose quality .. a few problems though, this damn thing weighed about 40 pounds or so it seemed, the batteries alone would kill you & the cassette was exactly the size of a VHS tape .. so if you needed a half dozen you needed to hire someone just to carry your gear .. the intention was to improve sound quality & they did that for sure .. just never tested it in the field, had they gone to 10 radio stations & said try these for 2 months & give us all your pro/con feedback .. they never would have made them .. as a result Sony killed the product after God knows how much was spent. Field test everything & save a fortune.

IMO Sony makes as good a product as you'll find, their R&D needs another layer to avoid these faux pas.
