Jay, Cendant (CD) and EFII are perfect examples of beaten down fundamentally sound stocks which we are discussing here.
Also AFCI springs to mind.
Enjoy the ride!

MCF (Microforum) is a good example of a stock WELL below its 52-week high of over $4.

At about 1.51 Friday (TSE), it's starting to move up, with higher volume and news expected this week.

Get on while the getting's still good!

Market Gems..http://www.marketgems.com/OurTrackRecord/index.html 6 months of tracing our track record (unedited, of course).... for newbies to the thread a new subscribers to the Market Gems Stock Selection Site for Short Term Traders (900 strong) .. (including results of earnings plays and stocks from our watch lists)

Fundamentally Sound but Beaten Down was how we began this thread 2 years ago. We just allowed for a more expanded meaning of the word "Market Gems" with an emphasis on the word 'gems' to include other stocks that we feel will move up and they usually do. Actually the stocks we 'called' in September and October and part of November were beaten down when we called them and have risen AFTER we called them to close to their 52 week high (stocks like USWB, CREE,SEG,WDC,TAGS, NTBK, BVSN, WFMI,CTAS,AFCI,CIEN, POWI, NM, MALL, NDB,YUM, GCTY, VRTS, QLGC and a slew of others).. so basically we did 'nurse' them through their beaten down stages.

I have added categories to this thread to include any stock that is running on momentum.. (i.e. internets) the only stipulation being that it be relatively sound, but not absolutely (i.e. AEOS, DLIA, CHCS, NITE, NDB, MSPG, ELNK, NSOL, VRSN, VRIO, GNET, GCTY) were calls we made in the last few weeks and the stocks have more than doubled and in some cases quadrupled. We don't 'discard' these gems but we trade them again and agin. We can't change the popular name of our thread to allow for changing market climate, it is too long identified by this name..

A portion of this thread is devoted to 'earnings plays'.. We discuss some stocks that have impending earnings dates and we feel have a good change of 'anticipatory upswing' and consequently beating the street..

and as always, we do have our 'beaten down' stocks especially after every correction there will always be 'beaten down' but the term is now relative.. beaten down can be a YHOO that is 200 a share and it is beaten down from 350, etc..
