neeraj, Thanks. I was only thinking of an old Fart like me, talking
through his computer & 56K modem.
Hmm, just looked at your profile.
Just think of it -- some 40 odd years from now, somebody your age may be explaining the latest Gee Wiz technology to you.
Best,
Mardy.

Re - Is anyone following the rumors regarding Ericy wanting to buy QCOM or part of it. Any leads on this?

I would speculate that this is extremely unlikely to happen for a variety of reasons:

1) If they started a hostile takeover, it is almost certain that Qualcomm would either successfully resist, or be bought out by a white knight like Lucent. That would be Ericsson's worst nightmare since then Qualcomm would them have the same IPR, but many more resources.

2) In a hostile takeover Qualcomm management would resist, and in the process make public many of the manipulation tactics which Ericsson has used. Qualcomm has historically behaved in a very gentlemanly fashion, but in a do or die situation Qualcomm might well shine a bright light on Ericsson and their tactics towards Qualcomm and CDMA. They probably want to avoid that at all costs. (Note that I am not saying that Ericsson has done anything really illegal, but they have certainly done things which would bring their credibility into question.)

Clark

PS I apologize for slamming Ericsson on the Ericsson board. It isn't personal, but I think Ericsson has painted themselves into a corner by relying too much on PR, and not enough on technology in regards to CDMA.
