I wouldn't overemphasize this point, I've been following the direct order routing firms for about 1 year and reps of other companies behaved in similar way (may not to that extent).
RTI's website looks really louzy but when MBT and CyberCorp started it looked almost the same..so this is nothing to be concerned about. Actually you can always ask. This is what I actually did. I was very near to open an account with RTI but finally changed my mind basically because I was unable to verify the information I got and up to now I was unable to find a customer ( I was looking at SI, Elitetrader and IRC channels).
I think the fee structure of RTI is quite perfect for me, the monthly costs are fixed and quite low. My trading style is 'event driven', I'm not scalping teenies and I usually have overnight holdings. I average about 10 trades a month and I feel no need to change this.
I must say very cleary that I was unable to find anything negative about RTI...BUT...I really don't like the way RTI presents itself to potential customers..its an amateur like style..even worse.
OK, like I said already, the websites of MB trading and cybercorp looked very ugly in their early days as well...this not my primary concern. I send a couple of emails to Uri Burstein of RTI asking several questions and always got a quick reply (perfect!). Finally I asked them to send me the papers to open an account. Usually you'll get some nice brochures where the firms a presenting themselves but not so with RTI. Only some 'cheap' looking forms looking like being copied for the 10th time. No personal letter, nothing about the company. Obviously they are saving a lot of money here. Its really strange, but up to now, I really don't know who or what this company is..only an adress, some telephone numbers and 2 names. They claim to have 80 customers right now but so far I was unable to 'find' one.
The final kick not to go with RTI was an email response from uri burstein which was a bit rude. This happened, because I asked him about his AOL email adress. Actually, I was wondering why he has an AOL address. May be I have an AOL-phobie or so but I think and AOL address is not the best address for an internet based firm. You know, AOL is 'internet for the masses' it is designed for people who dont know about internet technology. But RTI is an internet based company, they have their own registered domain, and I cant see any reason why they shouldn't use their own domain name for email.
All in all RTI needs some more time for improvement I guess, so far it looks not like a professional managed company to me.
