But as far as I can see, they don't claim to have spent shareholder money getting audited statements, and then not sharing them.

If a company doesn't even GET audited financials, that's one thing -- there may be nothing accurate to share. But once they have completed an audit (with shareholder money) why can't the shareholders see it?
