nCipher Announces Integration With Netscape
Certificate Management System 4.0 And Directory Server 4.0 Software

Delivers Scalable Hardware-Based Security for Secure Electronic Commerce

WOBURN, Mass., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- nCipher, Inc., a leader in secure electronic commerce solutions, today
announced the integration of its nFast cryptographic accelerators with Netscape (Certificate Management System 4.0 and
Netscape Directory Server 4.0 Software. This integration of nFast/CA with Netscape products delivers enhanced scalability
and hardware security for protecting large scale e-commerce and extranet applications with digital certificate-based security.

Netscape Certificate Management System 4.0 is server software that enables enterprise service providers (ESPs) to protect
extranet and e-commerce web sites by creating and managing a public key infrastructure (PKI) using digital certificates that
identify employees, partners and customers. Netscape Directory Server is used by leading ESPs to manage user and
security information for large scale Internet and e-commerce applications. nCipher's nFast/CA is a FIPS 140-1 Federally
certified cryptographic accelerator for securely managing digital certificates-a critical component for secure electronic
commerce over the Internet.

''Digital certificates are emerging as an essential part of the infrastructure through which businesses provide secure access to
controlled sites, verify user identities and authorize high-value transactions over the Internet,'' said Alex van Someren, CEO
of nCipher. ''nFast/CA can offer customers considerable cost savings and enhanced physical and logical security by
protecting valuable signing keys, and by reducing the number of servers that enterprises need to purchase and deploy to
handle large user populations and rapidly increasing transaction volumes.''

''The integration of Netscape Certificate Management System 4.0 and Directory Server 4.0 with nCipher's nFast/CA
provides an advanced and highly scalable security system for our customers,'' said David Weiden, vice president of
Directory and Security Products. ''The combined solution makes extranet and e-commerce security practical and
cost-effective to deploy.''

About nFast/CA

The security which underlies online business is increasingly dependent on electronic keys. The enterprise-scale deployment
of electronic keys or digital certificates creates problems both of transaction throughput and physical security. nFast/CA
combines these functions along with advanced key management capabilities, accessed by standard e-commerce and
certificate authority applications via the PKCS#11 standard interface.
