I don't know why LU bought Livingston. I think the acquisition of ASND admits that
Livingston was a mistake. Maybe someone at LU is finally starting to 'get it.'

Jack,

I was very involed with ASND when LU purchased Livingston. My opinion reagrding the buy of Livingston by LU is two fold. LU needed remote access concentators and needed them then. ASND was still digesting the Cascade purchase causing some earning weakness. LU coul not use a pooling of interests at that point in time which is a huge tax advantage. Livingstons was bought for $500 million cash if my memory suits me correctly. That was a small amount to LU and they needed something then. I suspect they do not consider it an error at this time.
