Bear Stearns estimates that Internet-based providers of hotel reservation
information and booking services will derive approximately $3.1 billion in
revenue by 2002, compared to around $100 million in 1997.

Furthermore, Bear Stearns projects that by 2002, hotel operators
establishing their own web sites will be able to attract approximately 25% of
overall Internet-based travel business. In 1997, this figure stood at only 9%.
Forrester Research estimates that the market for online travel services
will balloon to $7.4 billion by 2001 from $654 million in 1997 through
providing direct online booking services.
