>>Since you've changed your investing philosophy from value to growth, perhaps it would be better for you to start a contest on the AOL thread for more speculative investors (gamblers).<<

Mark..

I think this last paragraph in your response to my picks is really
uncalled for. How would you know what my "investment philosophy" is?
I will give you the benefit of the doubt that the sarcastic tone and the implication that investing in "growth" is gambling and value is better than growth is not what you intended to imply with your suggestion that I start a contest on the AOL thread "for more speculative investors."

All of the tech stocks I own have higher P/E's than 30 because they are all growing and successful and have given me a very nice profit.
I do not own speculative, high risk stocks unless you think CPQ, INTC, AOL, LU and SUNW are such. And since I am of the "buy and hold"
philosophy, I have no intention of selling the above unless their
fundamentals change considerably, I need the cash, or I find a better
place for my money.

I mentioned the fact that I own no stocks under a 30 P/E because
there was no stock that I know well that would fall under your criteria for this year's contest, as I did last year with VISX. And I wanted it clear that I don't own either Ciena or Avante!

Both of the above stocks are out of favor and poised for a comeback.
Both, as I said in my earlier post, have low P/E's and no debt.
Ciena's deal with Tellabs fell through last year. It's price fell
as well. The recent Lucent-Ascend merger is speculating that another takeover of Ciena could happen.

Avante! is in the middle of an ugly criminal and civil lawsuit with CDN. CDN says AVNT stole software code from it's product line, however recent indications are there might be a settlement. If that
happens, then AVNT has a chance of getting back on track. Sales were
up nearly 40 percent for the first 9 months of the year.

If the above is not enough of a "justification" then I will bow
out of the contest and sit on the sidelines.
