Ztect is just one of those people that can't stand to be proven wrong about anything, and now that the market has told him he is wrong, he has to prove Anthony "cheated" somehow. Ztect appears to be an extreme case of this. Let him have his temper tantrum over it; he'll be gone by mid-week.

I think right now it's very hard to try these Internet "libel" cases as identity of the person accused and court jurisdiction is hard to achieve. It is possible someone may have provided false information to SI in the registration, or even used another person's name etc. And where would you try the case? In the state where GNET is incorporated, or where the plaintiff resides? And what if one of the parties does not live in the U.S.?

Let's go to the Yahoo case, where several companies successfully sued individuals who spread false information in an attempt to short the stock. These individuals made statements such as "the company is covering up a loss of $xx million through fraudulent accounting" and "the CEO embezzled $xx" etc. So while these were clearly documented and can be proven to be untrue and malicious, the extent of damages was hard to define. I don't think the courts are equipped to handle or calculate the loss on a stock, because market conditions might have made the stock tank.

Anyway there are a lot of factors to consider here. Since these are message boards the common knowledge is everyone is posting in their own opinion. Remember we have the 1st Amendment to deal with, so unless someone explicitly state what they post as FACT it would be hard to prove a libel case. Name calling does not violate any law either. It might violate Terms of Agreement, but that's for SI to enforce not the courts.

I don't think any judge would want to set a precedent for persecuting a person's opinions, however "wrong" other people might consider it. If that were the case most of the media would be shut down by now.

Anyway I'm not condoning the actions of certain people on this thread, but I have to defend their right to express their opinions.
