A chance to play "Venture Capitalist"? This is a Development Stage company - analyze it on those terms. Shorts, longs, daytraders, investors, amateur analysts are all flippantly tossing "dd" around on this company.... But - half of it appears to be hype - either on the short side, or the long side... I'm having a hard time separating facts from fiction - but I guess any stock with this volume will attract this kind of analysis. As far as I can tell there is limited audited public info available on Imaginon. According to Edgar filings these are the facts: 1. Imaginon (imon) merged with California Pro (calp) rather than taking the standard path of an IPO - why? But it's not fair to dig up CALP's old financial statements and try to apply them here. It don't work. 2. IMON has no signifcant revenue as of 9/98 3. CALP apparently has a disturbed past (creditors, delisting, etc). IMON has recieved notice that they now meet the NASDAQ requirements. Short of that, there is not a lot of significant info avail from Edgar (the only source I trust). On the pro side - IMON has some great products: WebZinger - a nifty little java software package which works. I tested the older version on a P75. It's slow, but performs as advertised, and the concept is good. I'm anxious to see the new improved version. E-Commerce - imagine seeing an ad on TV for the latest toy. Click on it to get more info, or store it away for viewing later - while watching 60 minutes! Interactive Internet TV is where we're going, and these guys seem to know that. Worldcities - again - video over the net with guided tours of your planned vacation. Makes sense and as bandwidth increases these guys will have products for the market. Most important to me are the people. Posted on their website is a short bio of each: CEO - former VP at Atari, software manger at Tandy, public company experience with Compousonics VP Engineering - Engineering manager at Compression Labs, SW mgr at Telebit (and worked at Compusonics - thus the conection with the CEO). The rest of the team seems well rounded too. I've seen the scams (ifly, aeng, midl, etc) - this does not seem to fit the mold (IMHO). They actually have a product, with engineers developing stuff. So what do we have here? A company run by savvy technologists, with some unique products (not just a web site). They are in the start up phase (a development stage company) but happen to be public. Most companies at this point are funded by Venture Capitalists and lowly investors like us can't get in. That's where the really big wins are - VCs expect to make 20X their investment (and sometimes loose it all too). I believe we have a chance to ride this one up from the ground floor. They are playing in the next hot area of the Internet - interactive video and advanced search capabilities. "This hybrid format combines high-bandwidth TV-quality video, instant navigation and live websites". I'm long IMON - at least 'till I see the next products roll out. Good luck to all
