I have no broker. I have no open trading positions right now and I'm all cash. The last margin rumor was true why disregard this one?

As far as I'm concerned this new margin requirement rule is a rumor Agreed. The last rumor of eliminating margin for net stocks turned out to be partially true. Most brokerage houses did, in fact, increase the margin requirements for the most volatile net stocks. However, this partial restriction did not abate the internet mania; most of the restricted stocks have appreciated substantially since those stricter margins were imposed.
