Excellent post as always, Ed. Another possibility. Hope there are increased revenues to give a pronounced sector valuation pop to beginning sometime this year.

<<While I can not find it, there is a posting which quoted Bramson in a much earlier statement to shareholder's where, to paraphrase, he "..viewed Ampex as a means to make a mark going forward.">>

Hmmm. Don't recall that. I think possibly you are referring to this from Gus' post #4098 ( lol..I tend to commit Gus' superb posts to memory - he has taught me a great deal)

<<But you know, I'm slowly being persuaded that this guy, maybe, just maybe, really wants to turn his substantial stake in the company into something bigger and kick it to the next generation >>

In certain takeover deals he could still do that. But likelihood is .... amenable to a buyout or not ..... I doubt he could get a compelling enough price .... not yet .... and I am sure he doesn't want to put the company in the bargain basement bin. He surely has dreamed dreams and felt the sting of this long decline much more than any other shareholder. Why do I continue to have a powerful hunch it is all finally beginning to really turn around? MYMYMY, I sure hope so.

the next replay of Ampex will be as an "Internet backbone company" or a supplier of Internet related equipment and hardware - as the component supplier of proven true top of the line storage and caching with "digital video know how."

that would qualify as a "mark going forward", wouldn't it...

thanks, ed.
