Long term investors should be glad that NT is overlooked. It gives us a chance to buy at lower P/E ratios. The stock market is all about expectations, so the lower they are the more room for upward price movement. With the P/E that LU has, can you imagine what will happen at the slightest earnings disappointment. NT also has the potential kicker of BCE selling it's share. The big BCE stake is a good reason for competitor carriers to avoid purchasing equipment from NT. Letting NT be 100% independent is a no brainer but CEO ego may keep it from happening. Look at the benefits of the AT&T - LU spin off.
