Risky - ***off topic ***
I do not give advice. I can share some experience here that may be of help. Market orders can be tricky, depending upon:
(1) whether you used a limit order
(2) where your Schwab's order was placed in the queue on MM's screen on that day for that stock
(3) how active the stock was during that period while you were waiting. Limit orders have a lower priority.
On Internet stocks or fast-moving stocks (up or down), since they are so volatile, brokers have several restrictions.
Discover Brokerage (former Lombard?) ranked No. 1 for on-line trading, according to Barron's articles. Now and then, I do not get the price I like. If it takes longer than usual, I cancel those market orders. Ram

Risky: I use Schwab, too. Have been satisfied with most of the trades I've entered. My only complaint is that their website is pretty slow sometimes. Because of that, I use Yahoo for quotes, even though they're 15 minutes delayed. During those rare trading moments when I need realtime quotes, I rely on Schwab's service.

By the way, I NEVER use market orders. If I miss buying on a specific day because of my limit, I just figure out what to do the next day.

Humbly report, Risky, got two accounts with E*Trade years ago, SEP/IRA and regular, and see no reason to change. Had my share of minor problems, but no biggies.

Many who access it on the web complain. I access it directly via CompuServe's terminal - zero graphics, and responsive even during the busiest of times.

Double check their math, like at the grocer's.

Cheers,

Svejk

Risky, we all have to live with delays, late executions and other problems. No online brokerage is equipped to handle the volume. my DLJ has been very spotty too. Just relax and count your dollars.

RB:

You may want to use a limit order next time; those market-makers are crooks!!

I use ETrash, and have had similar problems on some market orders. They have traced the trade, and have found it to be MMer hijinx.
