Happy Girl's #1 was State Control. #2 was total freedom of choice. I used that numbering for a cheap laugh.
I was worried that you espoused freedom to the degree of abolishing ALL government control. After all, you are a self-described "freedom extremist". Maybe it's my imagination that's extreme, or watching the "Road Warrior" cycle once too often.
But I deduce that you don't mind a government so long as it holds more or less to the principles outlined in the eighteenth-century writs. In that case - we are probably coming from pretty near the same place. I value individual freedom. At the same time - I acknowledge the value of laws which restrict those freedoms where they cause harm.

I think most folks on this board feel about the same way. The real debate and flamethrowing kick in when we talk about what constitutes harm. Like environmental issues - where a short-term profit can lead to serious long-term expense. (Easter Island, again.) We just calibrate our individual benefit/cost firewalls differently on some things.
