I've been watching Sandisk for a couple years now. I used to frequent the thread as many of you might know.

Besides all the good things we've seen in the marketplace recently, one should not underestimate the new HD "emulation" technology that Sandisk has. Their patent portfolio is very strong in this area and their products in this area are just now hitting the market (e.g. recent press release). There are hundreds of applications where flash memories will be much more desirable than an old fashioned hard drive. Of course, it will be "upper end" for awhile so the profit margins will be greater. This technology will be a big plus going forward.

On the street, Sandisk is beginning to make a name for itself. I've seen Sandisk brand products in Office Depot, Circuit City and Best Buy. And there's still a growing royalty stream.

All the big Japanese companies are crawling all over Sandisk's patents, looking for a way around them, but they're running into brick walls. This is the key strength to their future. They have managed to stay ahead of everyone from the start.

It's fun to see the group make some money for a change.
