I am going in part on remarks by John Templeton, who identified, so long ago now, Japan as the place for immense growth and profits and then got out. By his measures the great Japanes comapnies, when he first bought them, in the earlier 1960s, had P/Es of around 3, and when he finally got completely out it was more like a 75 average.
