CITRIX AND MICROSOFT - CHANGES IN LICENCING OF WINDOWS NT SERVER 4.0
TERMINAL SERVER EDITION BENEFITS CSN MEMBERS AND CITRIX METAFRAME CUSTOMERS AND FURTHER ENHANCES SERVER-BASED COMPUTING

Today, in response to customer and channel feedback, Microsoft has announced some significant changes to the licencing, packaging and pricing of Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition.

Essentially, there will be 3 changes:

1. Creation of a TSE access license (CAL) - per user basis at US$109* (was US$300). As before, all users will need File and Print Services CAL at US$40*.

2. Creation of an Internet Connect licensing package, facilitating access to applications by an orgn to users outside that orgn only. Users must be anonymous and be accessing the server over the internet. Concurrent basis per server - 200 users: US$9995.

3. Creation of a Work at Home licensing package offering a 50% discount to exisiting TSE CALs for home use only.

These changes are being effected by Microsoft in response to customer demand for change to their existing licensing structure. Citrix will not make any licensing change announcements but will announce the equivalent of the Internet Connect licensing package at a later point. Citrix is one of many vendors offering their support for this initiative.

We believe Microsoft's changes are good for our customers, reducing their overall costs in implementing a server-based computing solution and will:

* Provide customers greater flexibility in their Terminal
server licencing decisions
* Lower the cost of implementing a Terminal Server system in
many cases
* Demonstrate Microsoft's commitment to Terminal Server Edition
and the server-based computing market
* Offer good news for Citrix customers planning to implement
MetaFrame to extend the enterprise functionality of Terminal
Server Edition

An external positioning document and FAQ have been posted to our website regarding these new pricing changes. This can be viewed at citrix.com.

Specifically, Microsoft will offer a new Terminal Server Client Access
License (CAL) that no longer requires clients to have a license for Windows NT Workstation. Microsoft is also updating the retail packaging of Terminal Server Edition to include the Terminal Server CALs along with Terminal Server to make it easier for retail customers to purchase a complete solution in five-user, 10-user and 25-user packages.

Microsoft has also created a new Internet Connector that allows
customers to publish Windows-based applications to non-employees over the Internet. In conjunction with this new Internet Connector, Citrix has concurrently announced its plans to deliver a new MetaFrame product SKU, packaged for Internet usage.

The MetaFrame product for internet usage will address the emerging
market for E-Commerce and Application Service Providers (ASP). It will address the needs of IT professionals deploying applications to anonymous users (or non-employees) over the Internet and the extended enterprise and will complement Microsoft's newly announced Internet Connector license for Windows NT Server 4.0, Terminal Server Edition. Product pricing, packaging and availability for the new MetaFrame SKU will be announced at a later date.
