I don't spend too much time on FA and I was referring to TA and not FA as you concluded in your above statement. You talked about the Market, Sectors, and Stocks. I use the Top Down approach and this is how I selected SUNW and CPQ. I begin by studying the overall market to see if it is in the mode of buying or selling. After that I perform Ratio Analysis to see which Sectors are coming in favor and which ones are going out of favor. After that I use Ratio Analysis to determine the Industry Groups in these Sectors with the Highest Relative Strength. After that I perform Ratio Analysis to determine the stocks within the Industry Groups that have the Highest Relative Strength. I do all that with TA and not FA. This is what I mean when I say that TA is all about the Market, Sectors, Industry Groups, and Stocks.
