I don't doubt that men leave their older wives for younger women because the younger women are prettier. I recently read, "Q: What's the difference between a girlfriend and a wife? A: 45 pounds." But, I suspect that the wife quit giving the guy his ego strokes, and the girlfriend was willing to do so. I was a girlfriend of a married guy for a while, and found out that girlfriends don't get to bitch. That's for wives, only. He already had a bitching wife, he didn't need a bitching girlfriend. And, since he wasn't perfect, it was hard not to complain sometimes. It didn't last. FWIW, I thought that I could get him away from his wife if I gave him enough ego strokes. Maybe I should have lost the 45 pounds.<g>
