Got a phone call from Jim Shephard NRI PR/IR? I was very surprised that he returned call. Picked his brains for as much as he would tell me.
He was of course happy with the fact that Clearwater was cleared out. And that Roy Spear HSN, had given company $2M in addition to the $1M or so he spent to buy up preferred.
He mentioned IBD article and the fact that Netsafe NT. Was featured as one of the best software products for 1999.
He admitted that it had been tough times (some $44M in stockholders money spent developing products over 7 years)
Re: SaftyLatch.
The quantities are small enough that they are packaging it themselves right now.
The are in process of selecting fulfillment company to package and ship larger quantities. When necessary.
He expects to see other web sellers carrying product next month.
Also, they are trying to get into stores like CompUSA.
I Suggested HSN, he said that would be a good choice although they are also trying QVC,
They are working with OEM's to include product, but he would not tell me which one that they might be close to closing, if any. He agreed that they should be in every laptop to protect company material if laptop was lost in Airport etc.
I asked about Computer Associates. He said that relations were still good. The problem with Private Industry seems to be getting their MIS managers to look beyond the Y2K problem.
I asked about earnings, He said that he could not say anything until they announced results, which should be in near future.
Regards,
Sheldon
