Please don't get yourself confused. DirecDuo they offered with DirecTV is actually a combination of DirecTV and DirecPC. DirecDuo is not a new technology. They simply make it easier for DirecTV customers to purchase DirecPC by using one dish. A dish is not a high tech device. What is high-tech is the setop box that is cabled up to the dish. Anyway, DirecDuo from DirecTV is simply a add on service to DirecTV. DirecTV in LA is a subsidary of Hughes Electronics. HNS(Provider of DirecPC) in Germantown, MD is also a subsidary of Hughes Electronics. They are the same company.

Andrew: We need to distinquish the 3 systems offered by Hughes Network Systems (HNS): DirecTV, DirecPC & DirecDuo. DirecTV offers direct broadcast service & requires the purchase ofa basic 18" circular dish & satellite signal receiver for your TV. DirecPC offers Internet access & requires a unique 21" elliptic dish & a satellite signal receiver in the form of a PCI slot card, or more recently, a USB that connects to your PC's USB port. DirecDuo is a combination system. The DirecDuo dish is identical to the DirecPC dish, but has an additional LNB to receive signals from both broadcast & Internet satellites without adjusting the position of the dish. Service for broadcast & Internet access are separate packages.
